 Join D&L and Kate MacLeod for a two day workshop with an emphasis on powder fades and dichro/fritball/-frit/dichro technique used in her CBS 2012 first place award winning 20 foot dragon. Hands-on fusing experience is required. Students will learn the innovative techniques developed by Kate which transforms glass into a  magical flowing fantasy. Using Kate’s award-winning 20 foot dichroic dragon wall sculpture as an examplee, this class will step through the entire creative of the process including: dusting impeccable powder fades, incorporating dichro mosaic for future overlay of graduated frit balls, frit, and chipped dichro, shaping an existing mold to achieve a unique appearance suited to your exact whim. Special discussions will include designing within the limits of your kiln space such that the overall project may expand to fit the project format. The focus of this project will be to give you the tools to succeed with your own vision on future projects. Students will leave this class with a ready-to-hang wall project utilizing the Hang your Glass Mounting system. D&L

 Learn techniques to create exquisite, gallery quality fused art in Advanced Fusing Techniques- Pattern Bars, Sushi Plates and More. Develop and build upon your design and composition skills while exciting your imagination with new ideas and techniques. In this three-day workshop Patty Gray will teach numerous warm glass processes that develop design skills including pattern bars, combing and manipulating glass in the kiln, working with mosaics, high fire projects, pot melts/pours, vitrograph, bas relief and frit cast objects for inclusion into the final project. Surface design elements will also be explored including frits, powders, stringers, metals, mica powders, frit painting, and dichroic glass. You will be involved in many hands-on projects that develop on new ideas, designs and techniques learned in this workshop. You will have the opportunity to make a triptych (3 piece panel) as well as glass bowls and plates. Students will learn many coldworking techniques, from cutting fused pattern bars on a saw, to edge working and grinding using horizontal flat lap machines. This workshop is filled with projects, techniques, equipment and ideas that will open a new world of possibilities. Hands-on fusing experience is required. Students are asked to bring a glass cutter, safety glasses, breaking pliers, and a ruler. D&L
